Hello! I hope you all had a great week. I want to thank you for
attending parent teacher conferences. It was nice meeting with you and sharing
your child’s progress.
I forgot to mention in our WIN note that students will not have a new spelling list go home next week due to Iowa Assessments.
Also, your child should have brought home a note from Mrs. Priske about taking our class to Cole Library on Tuesday, November 10 from 2:00 to 3:00.

Tim Green- Author Visit
We had the pleasure of listening to Tim Green on Wednesday. He had a
powerful message for our students. Work hard, be kind, put academics before
sports, and READ!
Cooler Weather
October seems to be cooling down quickly. We have been encouraging our
students to bring coats to school so that they are dressed for recess outside.
It is helpful if your child’s fall/winter gear is labeled with their name.
Also, many items have made their way to the Washington Elementary Lost
and Found. Feel free to look in our lost
and found area if your child is missing an item. Thank you!
Iowa Assessments
We will be taking Iowa Assessments next week. We will be
testing for approximately 90 minutes on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday (no testing Friday afternoon, only morning) between 10:00-11:00 and
12:45-1:45 each day.
On Monday, November 9 students will complete the student
interest inventory. This will only take about 20 to 30 minutes.
Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep as well
as a healthy breakfast each morning.
Remind your child to do their best, but not to stress about these
assessments.
We will be testing in the areas of reading, math, written
expression, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, computation, and
science. Since third grade is the first
year students take the Iowa Assessments, they serve as a baseline for
comparison in years to come.
