Welcome Back!

Hello! I hope you've all had a great week. Friday folders came home today with class information. I will post that information below, in the event that you might need it and can't find your paper copy. Also, here are a few photos from our first few days. I've greatly enjoyed getting to know these kiddos, they are a wonderful group of kids!  Have a great weekend.

Parent Communication/ Elementary News

·      Usually a classroom note will be sent home on Fridays. Each Friday students will bring home their Friday baggie. Please return the baggie to school each Monday.

·      Each week Lori Arnold does a great job updating the Washington Elementary news website. Please check out the ES News page from time to time.

Spelling

·      New spelling lists will go home on Mondays. Students will take a pretest on Friday to determine their new list for the following week. Post-tests will be taken on Fridays.

Homework

·      Students will have a bit of homework each week. Homework will come home on Monday, and needs to be returned to school on Friday. Please check the homework folder every Monday. There will most always be spelling homework for the week. Additionally, part of your child's homework is to read 15-20 minutes several nights a week, if possible. Occasionally there will be special assignments/projects.

Snack (optional)
·      Third graders eat lunch at 12:35 each day, this is a long time after most students have eaten breakfast. Students in our classroom will be allowed to bring an individual snack (granola bar, piece of fruit, crackers, etc.) to be eaten in the morning. This snack is completely optional and will not be provided by the school.

Other Information

 Birthdays
·      You are welcome to send treats for birthdays; we currently have 23 students in our classroom. We do have several tree nut allergies in our room. Prepackaged snacks are preferred, so we can see the list of ingredients.

Current Events
·      Each week we will cover and discuss current events through Scholastic News (a mini “newspaper” for students to read and discuss together). You are welcome and encouraged to help your child find news items of interest to bring in to share with the class, if you’d like from time to time.
