Happy New Year! I hope you all had a nice holiday. We’ve been reviewing expectations and settling back into our routine. Please take a look at our upcoming dates.

Upcoming Dates:

January 13- Spelling test and homework sheets due

January 20- No School

January 27- Spelling Bee (for those that signed up)

Our third grade Journeys stories next week will be a section of Ramona Quimby, Age 8 and Imagine a Recipe. One of the skills we will be working on is reviewing steps in order. For example, “first they mixed the batter and then they rolled out the dough”…etc.

As an added bonus, we’d like to create a class recipe book. You and your child may find a favorite recipe, holiday recipe or any other recipe that is a family favorite (main dish, appetizer, soup, cookie, dessert, etc.)

Please send a copy of the recipe to school with your child or email a copy to me at aschnoor@mountvernon.k12.ia.us by Tuesday, January 10. We will design, organize, illustrate, and publish a class recipe book.

We’ll all enjoy the process and the new recipes!
